WWII Veterans eligible for no-cost VA healthcare

VA healthcare, medical services and nursing home care is available at no cost to WWII veterans who served between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, announced Friday, November 10, veterans who served during this time, regardless of length of service or financial status, will not be subject to co-pays, enrollment fees or monthly premiums.

Dr. Shereef Elnahal, the VA Under Secretary for Health, says it's now time to serve members of the "Greatest Generation" who answered the call.

“We are proud to provide world-class, no-cost health care to these heroes at VA, and we encourage all of them to enroll today," said Dr. Elnahal.

The VA is currently reaching out to WWII Veterans not currently enrolled in VA benefits, encouraging them to join.

According to the VA, WWII Veterans will be able to maintain their "private providers, Medicare, and most other insurance to meet their health care needs."
