ELKHART, Ind. - What if you could learn from a different professional every week?
That’s' exactly what happens in this classroom at Roosevelt STEAM Academy.
“Fun Fridays: Jamming with the Professionals” started this school year, and each week, a new professional comes in.
3rd and 4th grade “high ability” students get the opportunity to hear the professional speak, ask questions, and of course, play some music!
Friday's guest was Congressman Rudy Yakym.
Students asked him about what it means to be in the U.S. Congress and what’s it’s like to work in Washington D.C.
“Children are the way of the future," said Yakym. "You know, the entire future of our nation is dependent on us raising great children. And how they turn out is how the future of the nation turns out. So giving kids this kind of exposure in a classroom setting, I think, is really important for the future of the country, and it’s great to be here today.”
Jamming with the professionals started this school year, and the hope is to expand it to more students here at Roosevelt as it continues.
