Zipcar Comes to St. Mary's College

St. Mary's College is now offering students, faculty and staff members access to the Zipcar car-sharing program.

A Zipcar was on display at St. Mary's College Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. outside the student center on campus so students, faculty and staff could sign up for the services.

Once enrolled as Zipcar members, St. Mary's members can reserve cars at the University of Notre Dame and vice-versa.

Members join for $25, then pay $7.50 an hour or $69 a day. Cars can be reserved via an app.

Katelyn Lopresti, General Manager for Zipcar University, says that each car shared takes approximately 15 privately owned vehicles off the road.

This means that Zipcars will help reduce traffic congestion and demand for parking on campus.
