ST. JOSEPH, Mich. — The culmination of a more than 20-year-long project spanning 580 acres of land is right around the corner.
The Brownfield plan for the final 20 acres of the Harbor Shores Redevelopment project was just approved by the county last week and needs one more approval from the state before developers can break ground.
The $96.5 million project is set to bring more than 200 units to the city, including townhomes, apartments and middle-income housing.
The project is also a mixed-use development that’ll include restaurants, amenities and commercial space.
Developers tell ABC57 that bids for construction are already being taken on the underground work and marina project.
Nearby Paddler Park, owned by the city of St. Joseph, will also be redeveloped to include a kayak launch and a building with restrooms.
With final approval from the state and necessary permits, developers hope to break ground this year and have vertical construction by 2027.
The end goal is to have the project totally complete by 2036.
