ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A 28-year-old man is in jail facing formal charges after an Aug. 28 domestic battery report.

The St. Joseph County Police Department reports officers responded the 52900 block of S.R. 933 around 5 p.m. on Aug. 28 for reports of domestic violence.

Police arrived to find the suspect, Demetrious Barnett, had already left the scene.

The investigation revealed Barnett was wanted out of St. Joseph County, Michigan for Domestic Battery with Intent to Commit Murder.

Police were eventually able to contact Barnett who refused to turn himself in.

The Warrants Division and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force was able to locate Barnett and take him into custody without incident.

Barnett is charged with Strangulation, Domestic Battery and Criminal Mischief.
