3D Printer creates prosthetics for children

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- A little girl who was born with the inability to lift her own arms now has hope thanks to a special printer.

The only prosthetic that could have helped her was made of heavy metal and that is only made in adult sizes.

Now a 3D printer has been created that can produce a lighter, smaller, plastic version of her skeleton.

"We can start putting these in the field now. Emma was the perfect test case. She's smaller and needed something custom," said Noah Zehringer, Stratasys Engineer.

Thanks to her magic arms this little girl is eating on her own, playing with her toys, and she can finally give her mom a hug.
