46 Reasons to get excited about the Super Bowl: Indiana sandwiches

ROCHESTER, Ind. -- A local restaurant is one of the 46 that are trying to win over the Super Bowl committee.

Their claim to flavor fame is the ultimate grilled tenderloin. The Streamliner Family Restaurant has been serving this dish up since they opened their doors in 1939.

It is one of 46 sandwiches in a competition to be named the Best of the Superbowl.

For you Purdue alumni and fans, there is also a sandwich from a West Lafayette restaurant. The Triple XXX restaurant is a Boilermaker favorite for late nights and game days. You can catch their Duane Purvis All-American burger in the same contest.

The bulk of the restaurants involved in the competition are from the Indianapolis area.

"We have really focused on a  statewide effort for the Super Bowl, so there is a number of restaurants participating that are now in the Indianapolis area," said Allison Melangton, the Super Bowl host committee CEO.

For more information about the sandwiches from around Indiana that make up the Super 46 Sandwiches, you can preview some of the sandwiches in our photo gallery, then check out their website.

You can look at all of the sandwiches, or sort by sandwich type, region, or zip code.

The first cuts on the list will be this Friday. Make sure to vote online and support our area restaurants.
