MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Police announced on Tuesday that detectives from its Criminal Investigations Division Peru Post are investigating the death of a 50-year-old inmate at the Miami Correctional Facility on April 4.

The inmate has been identified as Shawn Booker. His family has been notified.

The facility requested that ISP investigate Booker's death.

The Miami County Coroner’s Office and Miami Correctional Facility Investigators are assisting in the investigation.

An autopsy is set to be performed on Booker to determine his cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
