57-year-old pedestrian struck by car in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. -- A Buick traveling south on S. Main Street stuck a pedestrian as he was crossing the street last night in Elkhart, according to police.

At around 9:01 p.m., an officer arrived at 1204 S. Main St. Elkhart to find medics treating a 57-year-old Timothy Adams lying on the ground at the front of the car.

Authorities say the Initial investigation indicates that a female driving the Buick hit Adams as he was crossing the road westbound, and that lighting was low in the area.

There was no crosswalk where Adams was trying to cross the road. Police say the female driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

Adams was transported to the hospital for serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.
