Saving a life one eighth grader at a time

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Over 1,400 eighth graders from South Bend and Mishawaka Schools gathered at Mishawaka High School to learn CPR.

The event breaks students up into groups of over 600 students, all gaining hands-on experience learning how to perform CPR on someone in need.

This event was hosted by En-Focus, a non-profit organization that works to empower innovation and community growth by working with students across the region.

The goal is to teach these students so that they can go home and be ready in case of an emergency.

David Saleh from En-Focus tells ABC 57’s Sidney Moore the point of teaching this grade over others is because at this age level they can better grasp the training and be able to train up to two other people after this event.
