NOW: Freedom Fest welcomes Indiana’s Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General

WARSAW, Ind. -- Ahead of America's 250th anniversary in July of 2026, Kosciusko County is celebrating patriotism and military service with its first ever Freedom Fest weekend.

The festival, held at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, features a variety of events including car shows, concerts and fireworks.

Organizers say the celebration is intended to honor the nation's history and the veterans who fought to preserve its freedoms.

On Saturday, Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith joined local officials and residents for the event, praising the community's patriotic spirit.

"They've got a great group of people here, great patriots, people who love this nation," Beckwith said. "So, we're honoring veterans, just giving glory to God for the liberties we have."

Beckwith also participated in a rendition of "God Bless America" during the flyover and said events like Freedom Fest are important opportunities to recognize military service.

"Honor the people who have served so valiantly for our freedoms and liberties," he said. "It's just good God-and-country people in Kosciusko County."

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita also attended the ceremony and expressed support for making Freedom Fest an annual tradition.

"We’re celebrating not just one day, but really a culture," Rokita said. "We've got to bring that culture back to our country, and Indiana is a great way to lead that regard."

As part of the celebration, organizers distributed badges to veterans in attendance after a fly over ceremony.

Freedom Fest concludes Sunday at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds with a final day of activities and celebrations.
