Notre Dame’s offense looking to carry momentum into Purdue game

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- While the defense has drawn most of the criticism, Notre Dame’s offense is quietly finding its rhythm. Anytime a team scores 40 points at home, it usually means a win—and with quarterback C.J. Carr starting to settle in, the Irish are beginning to show flashes of what this unit can be.

One of Carr’s biggest weapons has been Virginia transfer Malachi Fields. At 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, he hauled eight catches for 125 yards against Texas A&M, winning multiple matchups against star corner Will Lee.

Tight end Eli Raridon has also emerged as a reliable deep threat, posting nine catches for 182 yards through two games—averaging more than 20 yards per reception.

Despite the explosive numbers, predictability has been a concern. Carr’s pre-snap stance reportedly tipped plays on 58 of 64 snaps last week, making it easier for A&M’s defense to anticipate run or pass. Coaches say the issue has been addressed.

Even with that flaw, Carr still threw for nearly 300 yards and a touchdown, while drawing praise from teammates for his leadership.

With Fields, Raridon, and other emerging playmakers, the Irish offense will look to build on that momentum as they host Purdue.
