SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Black Lives Matter South Bend hosted the Black Voters Matter Bus Tour that came to South Bend on Friday. They are encouraging more people to register to vote.
The traveling group is preparing communities in U.S. for the 2020 presidential election by assisting people with voter registration and talking about the candidates.
The group’s goal is to empower voters and to build and strengthen relationships within different communities.
“We are going to communities, talking to organizations, working with people to really build relationships, because ultimately, we know that it’s important that folks register to vote, that people are educated around what the issues are and they are building power by building networks together,” Latosha Brown said, Co-founder of Black Voters Matter.
The bus tour has traveled through multiple cities in the U.S. and plans visit Kalamazoo after South Bend.
