Afghan dog gets new 'leash' on life

INDIANAPOLIS -- A dog is getting a new "leash" on life, thanks to an Indiana soldier.

Kyle Hutten-Locker is a security contractor in Afghanistan. Recently, he found a dog that had been hit by a car!

The dog, named Darak, couldn't get the care he needed overseas. So an Army vet paid to fly the dog home to Indianapolis!

"He is very special to me, because I have a love for animals and I have seen now how my son is reaching out helping him. That makes him very proud, not only my son, but of all the men,” said Elizabeth Sherfield, whose son found the dog.

The family took the dog to the vet on Wednesday. Once he gets better, they plan to put him up for adoption!
