Alleged drunk driver crashes into trailer on Indiana Toll Road

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. – An alleged drunk driver was arrested for driving under the influence after causing a crash on the Indiana Toll Road Tuesday evening.

According to Indiana State Police, troopers were sent to investigate a two-vehicle crash at mile marker 125.8 in the westbound lanes at approximately 6 p.m.

Upon arriving, officials found that a 2012 Ford F250 hauling a trailer with machine equipment was rear ended by a 2011 Lexus.

ISP says the driver of the Lexus, 32-year-old Steffen Levine of Minnesota, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. It is reported that his BAC was more than twice the legal limit.

The driver and passenger of the Ford both complained of neck and back pain but refused medical treatment.

Levine was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated with endangerment and operating while intoxicated over 0.15 percent. He was also cited for speeding, following too closely, unsafe lane movement, and not having a valid driver’s license.
