Application deadline for Berrien Community Foundation For Good grants is September 30

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The deadline to apply for Berrien Community Foundation's For Good Grant program is September 30. The foundation recently increased the maximum grant amount to $15,000 per grant.

For Good grants are available to 501c3 nonprofit organizations, schools, religious organizations doing community work, and government organizations serving Berrien County.

“The maximum grant amount had been set at $10,000 for several years,” said BCF President Lisa Cripps-Downey. “Our volunteers review grant applications, and we see the needs increasing. It really made sense to give our volunteers the opportunity to give more to help our nonprofits succeed as they do work in the community.”

Berrien Community Foundation also increased the minor grant amount from $1,000 to $1,500. Minor grants have a shorter, simpler form for organizations with a smaller request, according to the foundation.

In recent years, the foundation has funded camp scholarships, community concerts, and parenting classes through For Good grants.

Grant applications fall into one of the following categories:

  • Arts
  • Children
  • Community development and special needs
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Seniors
  • Youth leadership and development
