Applications to St. Joseph County Emergency Rental Assistance program close January 14
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The deadline to apply for the St. Joseph County Emergency Rental Assistance program is January 14, the Board of Commissioners announced.
The program, which offers renters impacted by the pandemic financial help for up to 15 months, will close due to staffing shortages and limited funds.
Applications will be processed by the county if received by January 14. Re-applications/re-certifications will also be processed.
“I was humbled by the outpouring of support by the various agencies that helped us in this crucial humanitarian effort. I am also grateful beyond words for the work that Corey Szczypka and her team did in managing the program,” stated Auditor Mike Hamann.
“I encourage residents still in need of assistance to apply before the January 14 deadline,” said Mayor James Mueller. “I am grateful to the St. Joseph County team and community partners who have developed and administered this project, which has made a difference for so many residents.”
Those needing help after the January 14 deadline may be eligible for the State of Indiana’s emergency rental assistance program.
