Attempted robbery at Knox Dollar General Monday, investigation ongoing

KNOX, Ind. -- The Starke County Sheriff's Office reports a 911 call came in around 8:25 a.m. Monday for an attempted robbery at the Knox Dollar General on S.R. 23.

The store manager informed deputies a Black man with a thin build and short facial hair came into the store and handed a note to the cashier demanding money from the register.

The cashier then told the man there was no money.

The suspect then left the store empty-handed.

Security footage captured the incident and shows the suspect wearing light-colored jeans, a black Nike hooded sweatshirt, a green baseball cap, and blue gloves.

The report states the suspect was seen leaving the store and getting into the backseat of a white sedan. The vehicle was then seen fleeing west on S.R. 8 toward Knox.

The incident remains under investigation.
