BBQ for basketball

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A few area kids spent their day barbecuing in the name of basketball!

Monroe Circle Community Center members were out on one busy corner selling barbecue chicken and ribs to raise money for their athletic department.

The director of the community center thinks it's a great opportunity to teach these kids about earning things they need in life.

"It makes me feel real good inside. It gives me a lot of hope in waking up and being a part of the solution, and not sitting back and being a part of the problem," said Ken Cooper, Director of the Athletic Department, Monroe Circle Community Center.

They hoped to get about 250 people to buy some barbecue.
