Beach-goers beat the heat with sun and surf

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- Holiday vacationers packed Silver Beach on Memorial Day hoping to beat back the heat.

Lake Michigan's water is only in the 50s but that didn't stop folks from tossing a Frisbee or playing a little volleyball.

Residents in St. Joseph state it's the hottest Memorial Day they can remember.

"It's always usually pretty chilly. We a had a really warm May and we didn't have a winter at all. So it's nice," St. Joseph resident Katie Alti said.

Other beach goers said that they couldn't think of a better way to spend this holiday on the beach.
