Beacon Health opens new outpatient facility in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Beacon Health held a ceremony to officially dedicate their newest facility. 

The new outpatient facility contains multiple departments and offers various types of testing, so more patients can get their needs met in one location. It also gives patients the option to register or schedule appointments online from home, or in-person at the facility's new kiosk. Beacon hopes that the new technology will enable patients to have better personal experiences when meeting new health providers.

Guest who came to the dedication ceremony were able to take tours and ask questions of Beacon staff and health providers. 

Kate Newbold is the Director of Digital Transformation at Beacon Health Systems "Today we have the dedication of our brand-new Mishawaka outpatient facility, and this facility really represents the pinnacle of our digital first strategy at Beacon ... enabling patients, through digital technology, to really take ownership over their care and their experience at Beacon."

"... Sometimes I think people think digital means impersonal... but digital (does not) mean we don't want to see you. I would say the opposite is true. Enabling us to send you these (texts) in advance gives you that same control, where you're really able to take the time to answer the questions if you want to, so that when you come on site, you can enjoy this beautiful facility and all that it has to offer, and you're able to see your doctor and really focus on your care. They're not helping you fill out paperwork, or they're not asking you, you know, to fill out this form or that form, or checking your insurance, because all of that has been done in advance. So really, we think, enhances the care and really enhances the connection that you have with your provider and with your caregiver."

The new facility opened at the end of March, and early numbers show that over two thirds of the patients have used the new digital technology, and over 93 percent of those patients have given the experience a positive rating. 

Newbold states "So, we're really proud of those statistics... We're seeing some really great early success here."
