Beacon Health receives federal grant for new program

Beacon Health is getting some much-needed federal money.

Wednesday at Memorial Hospital, new details about the grant were released.

Beacon will use the money to partner with community organizations to provide support for children and their families who have been exposed to trauma, and the city thinks it will benefit the town.

“Its also to make sure that were taking care of our most vulnerable residents. And no resident is more vulnerable than a child who has been exposed to violence, hunger, and domestic abuse, and family incarceration. Families are being torn apart. We as community have to be a second family and help lift people up,” says Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

This is all a part of South Bend’s comeback because they say, the children are the future.
