City of Elkhart ELKHART, Ind. -- Beardsley Avenue will close beginning Wednesday for critical infrastructure upgrades tied to a federally mandated stormwater and sewage separation project.
The City of Elkhart expects this work to last through June 16.
Officials say this work will help modernize Elkhart's aging utility system and prevent sewer overflows during heavy rain.
Crews will separate stormwater from sanitary sewage to reduce pressure on the system, protect local rivers, and help stop untreated sewage from entering area waterways during major storms.
