BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - The city manager in Benton Harbor still has a job.
Darwin Watson has been with the city for more than 20 years and running the day to day operations in Benton Harbor for more than four years. But the city commission recently voted to end Watson’s contract, but he kept on working while they try to work out a new deal.
Tonight the Personnel and Finance Committee asked the full commission to rescind the contract offer made to Watson last month because he has not yet agreed to the terms.
"Basically what we have is a resolution that's just sitting out there, no action has been taken on it and its been out there for some time," said Ron Singleton, Benton Harbor City Commissioner. "The city manager is still the city manager until some action is taken."
ABC57 did reach out to Darwin Watson tonight but he declined to comment on the apparent stalemate.
