NOW: Benton Harbor non-profit raising money for indoor sports facility during open house January 16

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - The Harbor Impact Foundation is dedicated to "changing lives through sports" and on Monday, the community is invited to join its efforts during the Renaissance Athletic Club's 2023 Open House and Fundraiser.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Athletic Club, located at 501 Graham Ave. in Benton Harbor.

A number of prizes will be raffled off during the event, including Notre Dame, Michigan, and Michigan State men's basketball tickets, a signed Wilson Chandler NBA jersey, free basketball & personal training sessions, gym memberships, and more.

All proceeds go to the Harbor Impact Foundation, Inc.

The foundation's goal is to build a state-of-the-art indoor training facility to bring kids from different racial and socioeconomic backgrounds together, provide tutors, offer mental health support, and provide more college scholarships for local student-athletes.

Raffle tickets cost $5 each. The live drawing starts at 6:30pm.

The Harbor Impact Foundation helps support Harbor Impact Basketball and local basketball coach Rodney Alexander, Jr., who starred at Benton Harbor High School (with the NBA's Wilson Chandler) and then went on to play professionally overseas for a decade.

Harbor Impact has kids leagues and AAU travel teams for children from kindergarten through 12th grade from all over Berrien County.
