BENTON HARBOR, Mich – Benton Harbor’s Interim City Manager, and City Commissioners handled day-to-day business on Monday as the city gears up for Tuesday’s Mayoral Primary Election.
Benton Harbor’s City Commissioners along with the office of the City Manager will begin the process of finding a permanent City Manager in which Interim City Manager Ellis Mitchell said he would like to be in contention for.
“I’ll tell you what, if I’m not in position to be the permanent City Manager I haven’t done my job,” Mitchell said.
ABC57 News is told that a permanent City Manager isn’t expected to be hired until early 2020.
Mitchell expects that he would have a good working relationship with whomever is the next Mayor of Benton Harbor.
“Whoever it is I’ll work with them,” Mitchell said.
Tuesday’s primary election will see the city’s six Mayoral candidates vying for one position with the top two vote getters moving along to November’s general election.
