Berrien County Road Department enters phase one of the Benton Center Road construction

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. --Today marks day one of the Benton Center Road construction. This is one of multiple phases as the Berrien County Road Department says Benton Road is a part of a road widening and resurfacing project. 

Phase one’s detour includes Napier Avenue to Crystal Avenue to Britain Avenue. The Berrien County Road Department recommends drivers should use the signed detour route or seek an alternative route.  

It is anticipated to take approximately one to two weeks to complete.   

The project's phases two and three are still to be determined, but the road department will update its website once those dates are confirmed. 

Berrien County Road Communications Director Adri Boone wants to remind drivers that April 15 to April 19 is National Work Zone Awareness Week.   

She wants to encourage the public to minimize those distractions while driving and to obey the workers and signs when approaching a work zone. As she says, the workers are there to give you instructions to make sure that you and they are safe.
