Board denies Trump objection, Michigan recount to begin Wednesday

The Michigan Board of Canvassers rejected President-Elect Donald Trump's objection to Green Party candidate Jill Stein's request for a recount of the votes in the November 8 presidential election.

The recount will begin the second business day after the board's decision, which was made on Friday.

Recount activity stopped after the objection was received, but the recount will start next week.

Also at the Board of Canvassers meeting, the Secretary of State asked the board to use optical scanner tabulators to conduct the recount. They did not change their policy to conduct the recount by hand, according to a press release from the secretary of state's office.

Also on Friday, Attorney General Bill Schuette filed a lawsuit to stop the recount.
