Boat in Lake Michigan capsizes, 6 people thrown into water

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Patrols were dispatched on Saturday around 5:31 p.m. for a water rescue after a report of a boat having capsized in Lake Michigan.

In a press release, it was revealed that 4 to 6 people were thrown into the water.

The owner of the boat told officials that a large wave is what caused the incident.

The New Buffalo Marine Patrol rescued people out of the water with the help of other private vessels in the area.

The New Buffalo Twp. Fire Department and Medic 1 Ambulance assisted from shore.

No injuries are being reported.
