12:15 P.M. UPDATE:  The scene has been cleared by authorities and the intersection has reopened to all traffic. 

11:30 A.M. UPDATE: Emergency responders are on scene and  a woman who was trapped in her vehicle has been freed and placed into an ambulance. Injuries sustained in the crash are still unclear for all involved.  

"It was loud, sounded like when a garbage truck slams a dumpster back down to the ground," a spectator at the scene recalled.

ORIGINAL: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A crash at N. William Street and Colfax Avenue in South Bend between a Buick Allure and a GMC Sierra has left one person trapped in their vehicle. Medics are currently enroute to the location, just out front of the Birdsell Mansion.

Authorities say they were called to the area at roughly 11:23 a.m.
