Burger King on Ireland Road catches fire Thursday morning

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department says the call for a commercial fire at 1113 E. Ireland Rd. came in at 9:11 a.m. on Thursday morning and when crews arrived, they were met with smoke billowing from the roof of the Burger King.

"The fire was contained to the kitchen and roof areas with water cans and dry chemical extinguishers used to put the fire out," the SBFD said. "There were no reports of injuries to employees of the business or South Bend Firefighters on scene."

Crews say the origin and cause of the fire are under investigation and more information may be released as it becomes available.
