Cancer Awareness Day at the Cove

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- This weekend isn't just a typical day at the ballpark for Silver Hawks'  fans.

Ladies, you won't go home empty handed.

They're celebrating cancer awareness Saturday and Sunday and giving away these pink jerseys.

The first 500 women 18 and older get a pink replica jersey courtesy of us at ABC 57 and B-100.

The players too are wearing pink.

Thousands of people came to the game  to bring awareness to what cancer can do to people and to celebrate those who survived it.

This year's slogan was "Don't let cancer steal 2nd base".

"Its affected so many people in life that the opportunity for people to come out and just bring more awareness to it, you're right, there are a lot of people wearing pink tonight. We promoted it as that and just being able to give away the jerseys is a great thing, and to see the place full tonight is very exciting."

All of the money raised Saturday night will be donated towards finding a cure for cancer.
