
CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office was called to a suspected home invasion on Saturday that ended with K9 Sitka sniffing out the suspect, who was hiding a short distance from the home.
Authorities say the call came in around 9:43 p.m. and deputies arrived in the Village of Cassopolis to assist Cassopolis Police Department at the scene.
"Upon deputy’s arrival Cassopolis PD advised that the suspect had fled from the residence prior to deputy’s arrival," the CCSO said.
"K9 Sitka was then deployed in an attempt to locate the suspect. K9 Sitka located the track for the suspect behind the residence. K9 Sitka then located the suspect where he was attempting to hide from law enforcement personal a short distance from the residence."
Authorities gave verbal commands and the suspect, whose name is being withheld by authorities, complied and was taken into custody.
