Cass County man arrested in the stabbing death of his sister

MASON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- After an 8 hour manhunt police have ended their search for 59-year-old Edward Hensley of Mason Township in Cass County, Michigan. Hensley was located in Elkhart Indiana.

On June 29, 2012, Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. said a 911 call came into county dispatch indicating a stabbing might have just happened at 19643 US 12.

When deputies responded to the call they found Martha Sexton had been fatally stabbed.

The Investigation revealed Hensley, Sexton's brother, was a person of interest.

Sheriff Underwood said, "Hensley has been identified as the suspect in the stabbing of the victim."

The victim and the suspect are sister and brother and had been living at the US12 address for approximately 10 days.

Hensley has been charged with open murder and has been arrested by Elkhart City Police. He will be awaiting extradition to Cass County on the charges.

Sheriff Underwood said Sexton was planning on moving soon and was on the phone at the time of the stabbing with her soon to be new landlord.

The landlord overheard an argument between Sexton and her brother and then heard her say something about he has a knife, then the phone went dead.

According to Sheriff Underwood Hensley doesn't have a prior criminal record.
