Changes in transportation leadership

On Friday, South Bend Community School Corporation Transportation Director Mel Falkner resigned amidst growing complaints from the community.

A letter was sent to each South Bend Community School Corporation Transportation employee.

The letter, written by Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Spells, states that Transportation Director Mel Falkner has resigned, effective immediately.

In the meantime, it says, an interim director has yet to be appointed and that Dr. Spells will be very involved in the operations until then.

One South Bend driver tells me all the problems parents are dealing with come from up top.

“What I’d like the public to know and realize, it’s not the drivers fault, yes we are shorthanded, that was managements fault you had a whole summer to hire bus drivers and it never happened is that the bus drivers fault? Absolutely not,” said the bus driver.
