Chase Tower may soon have a new owner

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Chase Tower may soon have a new owner, if they can jump through all of the legal hoops.
Bidding for the property closed on June 14. The top bidder will begin going through the court process of taking the property off the hands of the receiver, according to Tom Sommer, a broker with the firm contracted to list the building.
Sommer said there is still a long way to go, and this is by no means a done deal.
Sommer also said he is pleased with the amount of interest shown in the building and with the bids that were placed.
He also said that any incentives the city decides to make will likely have no effect on whether the court decides to approve the bidder as the new owner.
