Chicago parents struggle for day care during teacher's strike

CHICAGO -- The strike is really taking its toll on parents with both time and money.

They are forced to choose between staying at home, miss work or pay for day care.

And if they have more than one kid, the expense is really adding up.

One day care has seen quite a jump in kids this week because of the strike, adding more than 20 kids to its all day program.

But many families just cannot afford it.

"I spent $240 in childcare in the last two days. I'm not happy about that," said Lee Earle, a father of twin boys, said. "And I'm sure most parents can't afford that."

It is not just parents that are struggling.

The day care center's director says the sudden influx of kids has put extra stress on its staff.
