ELKHART, Ind. -- The city of Elkhart is previewing the events to expect this Memorial Day, May 25.

Elkhart Parks and Recreation announced the theme of this year's holiday celebration is "250 Years of Service and Sacrifice." The day will begin with a veteran memorial service at Rice Cemetery beginning at 9:00 a.m. City officials say the ceremony will honor those who gave their lives in service to the United States. It will be open to the public.

Following the service, the Memorial Day parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. It will travel through downtown on Main Street, from Harrison Street to Lexington Avenue.
