SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend celebrated 100 years of the Studebaker Golf Course on Thursday.
South Bend Venues Parks and Arts used the occasion to announce new golf initiatives.
One of their main goals is to bring a younger crowd to the sport.
“Golf, as we know, the demographic has become older and we’re seeing less youth playing the game of golf, maybe there are other choices or other sport they’re playing but we wanted to remove that barrier of entry, meaning the cost of clubs, the cost of balls, the cost of the daily greens fees, and encourage the youth to come out and learn this sport,” Director of Golf for South Bend Tony Stearns said.
Kids will be able to play golf for free at the Studebaker Golf Course during the summer.
