Colts head coach battling Leukemia
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that head coach Chuck Pagano is battling leukemia.
The coach got checked out after dealing with some unexplained bruising and fatigue. Pagano has been in intensive care since last weekend.
He is expected to be out at least six weeks.
Doctors say his leukemia is treatable.
"He's looking forward to leading the Colts to some Super Bowls. However, the process is long and complicated and we're just starting right now," said Dr. Larry D. Cripe.
Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay believes that Pagano's ability to coach the full season is "unlikely."
This is the coach's first year with the Colts. The team's offensive coordinator will serve as interim coach.
