ELKHART, Ind - Elkhart police are clearing caution tape after a deadly shooting early Thursday morning.
Officers were first called out to the area of 4th and Harrison streets just before 3:30 on reports of multiple shots fired.
Their investigation then took them a few blocks away to 5th and Marion streets where they found a man dead inside his home.
His name has not yet been released.
Michael Downing, the director of food services at church community services says he is saddened to see the loss of life right here in his hometown.
“I actually drove past and saw the police tape up and all the cop cars and I was immediately saddened and concerned about what person, son, daughter, what uncle what nephew left from our community because each time we have a loss of life, we have a loss of capability, in Elkhart that saddens me,” said Downing.
At last check-- no arrests have been made.
