Construction for new animal shelter to begin

SOUTH BEND. Ind.--Today Animal Care and Control is having a ground breaking ceremony.
After years of preparation, the time has finally come. Construction on the new state of the art facility is expected to begin soon. Its size will quadruple from 17 kennels to 39. They'll also add a spay and neuter clinic and indoor and outdoor courtyards.
After much debate, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission approved the 1.5 million dollar funding for the project last month.
