Construction to cause traffic delays on Shawnee Road in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- On Thursday, crews will be working to complete final structure adjustments on the recently resurfaced Shawnee Road, between Red Bud Trail and the Oronoko Township limits.

The work will result in some minor traffic impacts on Sept. 26 and a few days after as cones will be in place over the structures that were adjusted for a few days following the work.

County officials ask that motorists not drive over newly adjusted structures until they can fully cure.

Shawnee Road will have intermittent lane closures, just where structures are located to facilitate final adjustments between Red Bud Trail and the township limits.

If weather does not delay the project, it is expected to be complete by the end of the day Thursday with cones in place for a few days after.

County officials say any traffic impacts will be maintained by flaggers and that the public should expect potential and temporary travel delays.

Motorists are reminded to reduce speeds when traveling through work zones and to watch out for construction workers and equipment.
