Consumer confidence highest in five years

U.S. consumers are showing a confidence in the economy.

The conference board says its consumer confidence index rose to 73.7 in November. That is the best level in five years.

The rise in confidence is believed to be connected to a better outlook for hiring.

The board also says a healthy economy is usually at a 90 on the index.

The confidence level has not been that high since 2007.

The index reached an all-time low of 25.3 in February 2009.
