County officials warn drivers of increased wildlife around Douglas Road reopening

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The reopening of Douglas Road between Ironwood Road and State Road 23 brings with it an increase in wildlife, and county officials want drivers to be aware of their surroundings as they travel.

Since the road has been closed for a lengthy amount of time, the deer population in particular has gotten used to roaming the area freely, according to county officials. This time of year is also a busy one for the animal.

As the road reopens, drivers are asked to look out for any animal in the area as they adjust to this new opening.

The county expects that stretch of Douglas to reopen on Wednesday.
