LA PORTE, Ind. -- At around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 22 east of exit 49 off the I-90 in La Porte, a car was entering a rest stop at a high rate of speed before veering off the road into a parked semi-truck, lodging under the trailer of the vehicle.
The driver, 73-year-old Marcie Rodriguez of Grayslake Illinois, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the accident.
