Police identify driver killed in crash on Prairie Street Friday morning

ELKHART, Ind. – One person was killed and another is in critical condition following a crash in the 200 block of Prairie Street in Elkhart on Friday morning.
A call came at 8:37 a.m. reporting the crash, which happened just south of York Woods Drive.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling southbound on Prairie Street when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound Kia Forte head-on, reports said.
The driver of the Kia, 21-year-old Shanice Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
This investigation is ongoing.
