Crash sends passenger to hospital in Cass County Saturday

Cass County deputies responded to a two car accident that happened on M-51 in Howard Township.

The crash happened Saturday just after 8:00 p.m.

67-year-old Lester Sweet and the passenger, 67-year-old Barbara Sweet, of Niles were heading south on M-51 when the accident happened.

Sweet was making a turn onto White Street when they were struck by another vehicle headed in the same direction.

28-year-old Brittany Leitz of Dowagiac was in the vehicle and did not suffer and injuries.

Barbara Sweet was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Police say the occupants did have their seatbelts on when the crash happened and alcohol was not a factor.
