Cubs get approval for stadium improvements
CHICAGO — Wrigley Field will have a new look in a couple of years. The Chicago Cubs recently got approval for $500 million worth of renovations.
In addition to improvements in and around Wrigley, the 99-year-old ball park will have a jumbo-tron added to left field.
Local Cubs fans had mixed reactions over the announced improvements.
"Anything that gets the Cubs winning," said Michael Grice. "I'm sure it'll look great."
While another Cubs fan said the new addition will hurt some of Wrigley's historic charm and the money should go to something more useful.
"I think the amount of money they're spending on that could be going to something that's more resource," said Andy Staggs.
The club recently got approval from Chicago's City Council, ending months of negotiations over the proposed improvements.
