SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Friday deadline (August 9) has nearly arrived for applicants to submit their materials to the South Bend Division of engineering for lamppost installations.
The process entails submitting an application to the city and calling 811 for the installation once the application is approved.
Then, the city will provide a solar-powered lamppost. There will be a subsequent inspection once it is all setup.
Two South Bend neighborhoods were chosen for the program based on average income, number of vacant lots, and the overall need for lighting fixtures.
Installations cost 50 dollars for people living in the designated neighborhoods and anyone living outside of those areas would have to pay 100 dollars extra for an installation.
For more information, visit the City of South Bend's website.
